The term adoption is used frequently in our society. There are “adopt a pet” centers and “adopt a highway” programs everywhere. This web page is dedicated to providing information about infant domestic adoption. We will start off by defining adoption as a legal process when a permanent parent and child relationship is formed by the transfer of parental rights from one set of parents (the birth family) to another individual or couple (the adoptive family) who is willing to assume those rights and responsibilities for the child.
